COVERGIRL Vitalist Elixir Lip Oil Swatches + Review

Hey hey! Usually I don't post much about drugstore products, but I have been getting lots of new drugstore items and drugstore products are really steppin up their game!!!

Covergirl so sweetly sent me a bunch of their new Vitalist line and my favorite products of the bunch?? These lip oils!

Because my lips have been sooo darn dry this winter, I've been wanting something nice and glossy to moisturize and soothe my lips. I mean, matte lips have been around for long enough, right? lol

This is what covergirl claims:

Vitalist Tinted Lip Oil is a transparent oil that delivers a comfortable, non-sticky, non-tacky shine. Formulated from a blend of nourishing oils with a lightweight texture that instantly melts onto your lips. This lip oil works hard to deeply hydrate, condition and soften your lips with every wear while the tint enhances the beauty of your natural lip color.
There are 6 colors available. I have two of them in Cherry Crush and Melon Granita. Below are the swatches!

Top: Melon Granita
Bottom: Cherry Crush

Melon Granita

Cherry Crush

Here are my thoughts:

Texture: This is literally like a lip gloss texture. It's super hydrating and moisturizing. It's very reminiscent of the YSL lip oils.

Packaging: It is in a standard plastic lip gloss container. The doefoot applicator is a smaller applicator, which means that I needed to reapply a bunch of times to get it on my lips.

Pigmentation: This literally gives the lightest tint. If you are looking for a punch of color, you won't find this here. As you can see the melon granita is almost like clear gloss.

Hydration: YES! I've loved this for the really dry days. It's not sticky, its not so thick, but it does do a nice job of hydrating the lips.

Lasting ability: It lasted about 2 hours before I needed to reapply.

Overall, I really enjoyed these. If you want a cheaper version of the YSL Tint-in-Oil, I think this definitely is a fraction of the cost and very comparable! You can pick these up at any drugstore :)

Loreal Extraordinaire Lip Colors Swatches + Review

Remember when I said I LOVE the Maybelline Elixir Color Lip Balms? That is because these Loreal lip colors haven't come out yet. If these two products came out at the same time, sorry Maybelline, but I would take all of the Loreal Lip Colors instead!

These are very similar to the Maybelline Elixir balms in that they are kind of a hybrid between lip balm and gloss, but the loreal stands true in saying that theirs is a lip color. To me this product is more of a hybrid between a lip balm and a liquid lipstick.

Let me break her down for you:

Packaging: I dont mind the packaging. It's very, I suppose normal for me. It is gold colored ,with a little peep of what color it is on the side of the packaging and on the bottom. It is a twist cap with a doe foot applicator. It has a fairly unique flat, slanted applicator that is very moveable to help make the application really nice and smooth.

Texture: These have a slightly thicker, balmlike texture. Its glossy (has one of the most gorgeous, luxurious shines to it!) yet it feels really smooth. not very sticky at all. I absolutely LOVE this kind of texture. If I were to compare this to the Maybelline, I would say that this one is slightly (very slightly) thicker.

Color: This is where the Loreal completely beats out the Maybelline Elixirs. Every color I have tried is consistent and true to the color on the packaging. You're not guessing whether or not the product will be sheer or hella dark. The pigmentation does not disappoint. They are all medium and buildable coverage. The darker/brighter ones are like WOW in pigmentation! Seriously stunning.

Wear time/moisture: This is also where Loreal outshines the Maybelline as well. This lasted about 2-3 hours on my lips and most stained my lips a beautiful hint of what the color was. The Fuchsia lasted all day - the stain on this was crazy!

Smell: It has a slight perfumy, fruity scent to it. Almost like... mangos? Not too overwhelming and once it is on your lips, you don't notice the scent.

Okayyy swatches are hurr:

Naked Lips

Rose Melody - a beautiful my lips but better color. It's a gorgeous peachy, rosy nude. Although it doesn't seem like the pigmentation is too strong, it does have decent pigmentation as I have placed the color over stained lips before, and you can still see the color!

Purple Prelude is this pretty mauve purple color. I wish I could go back in time to fall so I can wear this every day!

Fuchsia Orchestra is a fantastic bright fuchsia color. I was legit shocked seeing this on my lips, but the pigmentation is so fantastic, I can't wait to wear this come summer time! Totally should've made the swatch on the bottle a little bit brighter HAHA! nonetheless, I love how this looks!

Because I'm obsessed with Orchid colors (OBVI COLOR OF THE YEAR!!) and purply pinks, I just wanted to share my new favorite lip combo! use the fuchsia color and then dab it, and put the purple prelude color on top. LOVE THIS COMBO! think it looks like perfectionnn! <3

And that is all folks! Hope you enjoyed the swatches! let me know if you have any questions! I think they are definitely worth checking out! I think they are currently 9.99 with buy one get one half off or something at rite aid, or about 7.99 at Target!

Have a wonderful weekend beautiful faces! xoxo

Loreal laLaque + leMatte Lip Colors

I'm never huge on drugstore products because of my sensitive skin, but occasionally (or more than that HA!) I enjoy picking up a couple new lip products to try out to see how drugstores are coming along. These are the fairly new Loreal Colour Riche leLaque and leMatte lip colors. It comes in 8 different shades of pinks, corals, browns and purples. Although I think that is fairly versatile, most of the colors are very bold. I wish it came in more every day neutral colors! Here's my break down:

Packaging: These are lipsticks in a almost lip pencil form. The twist up contraption is very easy to use and good for preciseness. The one thing I find is if you don't twist up high enough, as you are applying, you are getting product all over the packaging.

Smell: The smell is similar to the regular Loreal lipsticks. Slightly overpowering of the flowery, old lady smell.  Not a huge fan, but I would still use it :P

Formula/Moisture/Pigmentation: I love the texture.

The laque formula is similar to loreal lipsticks. It is thick and moisturizing without being overbearing. It gives full coverage of lipstick, but could be nice and sheer if you put just a little bit. the laque formula is very moisturizing- as are all loreal lipsticks for me!

the matte formula is slick and moisturizing. It's not dry (unlike most matte lipsticks) and has amazing lasting power. You do have to be careful, because mine transferred fairly easily (despite it being on my lips for a while), and I somehow had lipstick on my chin after a couple hours!

Lasting ability: I would say these have better lasting ability than their usual lipsticks. If you look below, the lematte formula lasted a good 7 hours before you started to see serious wear. The lelaque formula lasted a nice 5 hours before I had to reapply. I know some people experienced feathering with the leMatte formula, but I didn't have that problem (as I don't usually have much problem with feathering)

Loreal leLaque in 411 and leMatte in 408.
twist up contraption makes it so easy to apply!
Loreal leLaque in 411 and leMatte in 408.
Showing the beautiful sheen of the leLaque formula compared to the matte formula!
Here is the laLaque formula in 411 - it gives a beautiful opaque color. Its a gorgeous everyday neutral mauve pink.
Here is the laMatte formula in 408. Gorgeous rich opaque color as well. Extremely precise!
I apologize for the strange flash! I was in a place that didn't have much light! Here is the lipstick after 5 hours. (I drank some water with a straw and had half a sandwich by this time) As you can see, still pretty intact!
This was after about 7 hours, as you can see, the color in the center of my lips have completely come off, just leaving an epically cool lip liner ring of red on the outside. (and my skin is so shiny ew!)

Overall, this is a great new product. I definitely recommend it. If you can get over the 'loreal smell,' these are definitely worth the hype and worth a try! They have a lot of nice vibrant shades, I'm looking forward to hopefully them getting in more neutral shades *cough*

For more swatches of the other colors check out my good friend Jenny's post with her lip swatches as well! :)

Thanks for reading! xo

Maybelline Elixir Color Lip Balms

Oh I Love these SOSO much!!!

I picked up four colors. I only pictured three because after one day of loving the mauve one so much and playing with it, I somehow managed to lose it. It was my favorite color of the bunch!!!! :(

These are the new Maybelline elixir color lip balms and IMO they are AMAZEBALLS... and from what I've heard, I believe they are permanent.

They are like a lip gloss / lip balm hybrid. And they are divine. Let me break it down for you.

Packaging: I absolutely adore the packaging. I love that its not just a clear tube with a 'gloss type thing inside,' but that the cut out of the tube is in the shape of a lipstick! I actually thought when I pulled it out it would be the lipstick shape. To my surprise there was a ridge-y slanted doe foot applicator (similar to the loreal lip stains). It provides really nice precise coverage because of the applicator.

Texture: AMAZE. I do not say these kind of things lightly, and I'm scared I may get hurt by some of my blogger friends... but these glosses are so plush and cushiony - they are reminiscent of some of my dior glosses (gasp!) I like how the texture is glossy and balmy, slightly thicker, but not sticky at all.

Color: The color payoff is not as great on the lips as you see in the tube. In fact, when I first picked them up, I was highly disappointed at the color because it was absolutely not the color I thought it would be. The celestial coral color looks like it would be a deep pink coral, was actually more of a jelly pink. Once I accepted the color was going to be slightly lighter than the tube, I was able to accurately pick which colors I would want. They are quite buildable on your lips depending what color you are using.

Wear time/moisture: This lasted only about 1-2 hours on my lips, but it did make my lips more hydrated and plump. Some colors have staining power, so it leaves a nice stain after the actual balm disappears.

Smell: It has this typical perfume-y sweet scent that like little girl's play lipglosses have. Do you know what I'm talking about? Some people will hate it, but I didn't notice the smell for very long.

Amethyst Potion:
Just to show how glossy gloss it is! :)

Here is with the product after about an hour on my lips. a pretty left over stained color!

Celestial Coral:

this is the doefoot with the weird, ridgey catepillar applicator!

Here is the stain it left behind after 2 minutes of it being on my hand.

Intoxicating Spice:

Overall - although the smell and color pay off is not what I hoped for, the product is something that is definitely worth trying out! I'm definitely going back to pick up more! I have a list of 6 more I want to try HAHA! #addicted #hoarder #LOL

I purchased mine from my local Harmon / Bed Bath and Beyond for around $6

CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss

I've heard some rave reviews about this product, so I wanted to give it a shot. These new CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Glosses that state to be a base coat, polish and top coat all in one while lasting up to seven days! The do it all polish!!

Now I'm intrigued by this, partially because I love long lasting polishes, cheap prices, but also because I'm lazy as hell - so if I can skip steps, I will try it out for sure.

I picked up Forever Frosted because I always look for the perfect everyday polished color... a "bridal" color, if you will. And let me tell you - it did a great beautiful application in two coats, but I did three coats because I love very opaque polishes. The polish is extremely shiny after application. My sister and I both wore the same color and she wanted to put on top coat, and honestly you couldn't tell the difference between either of our polishes.

So far I've had this polish on my nails for 3 days and a couple of hours and I still don't have one chip yet - only a teeny nix i had when I was trying to multitask when the polishes were wet.

This picture is after two days wear with lotion on my hands  (so its not as shiny as it is!)

It seems to be a wonderful polish and I'm glad they have a 45 range of shades! I'm looking forward to trying more colors - so pretty :)

You can purchase these at drugstore - I picked mine up from CVS for around 6 dollars!

Loreal Wet Shine Stain - Dupe to YSL?

So many of you kept asking me if (well i purchased these a long time ago but forgot to post it whoops) loreal stains are dupes to my beloved YSL glossy stains.

I'm here to tell you - nope, they are certainly not!

As a product in itself - it is not terrible. There are some flaws with it (as there are with any product) and don't perform amazingly on my lips... but if you compare them with the YSL glossy stains they fall flat... by a lot.

So here is the product :) and let me walk you through my thoughts!

Here is what the packaging looks like - i have to admit. I love the packaging. I think it looks chic and is practical!

I also enjoy this doe foot applicator. It's similar to the YSL one and it can hold a lot of product. so i quite appreciate it. I honestly can't even tell you what color this is because I returned it back to the store, but for me it looks as if it'll perform as a pretty milky pink - slightly coral color.

Here's what the color looks like. It is the stripe that is on the left going vertical. On the right side are the two swatches of my YSL glossy stains - 27 (peche) on top and 29 (rose) on bottom. As you can see, it looks VERY similar to the color on top. #27 on me does look like a pretty coral color - and I would hope that this color would look similar.

Here she is on my lips. . . I mean, yes, it's a nice color. A pretty stained, jelly almost rose-ish color. NOTHING like what it looks like on my swatch or in the tube. In fact, I find that I have a lot of colors that are very similar to this. The texture itself did feel slightly like the YSL glossy stain, but it wasn't as tacky and doesn't feel as thick. It feels more slick and glossy.

THIS is the reason I returned it. I mean, I know my lips are slightly chapped - but not THAT chapped haha. The stain ended up falling deep within the lines of my lips and created this horrible splotchy coloring, which made me feel so sad! The worst part was that I couldn't even get it off HAHAHAHAHA! I ended up putting on a darker color lipstick on to mask it.

This is actually what made me laugh at the end. After a bit of time, here are the stains that the lip products left behind. The loreal stain ended up looking like the rose color on the bottom! nothing like the peach color on top! isn't that bizarre?
So if you've never tried a YSL glossy stains and think you're getting a bargain here, the product doesn't perform like it although it does have hints of similarities. IMO, I think it is well worth it to pay the extra 20 dollars to get a YSL glossy stain for better colors, texture, evenness and long lastingness.

The Loreal lip stains aren't horrible, perhaps it is just the color that i picked, or my lips.. - in fact I like the packaging and i like the fact that the texture isn't quite as thick, but you have to make sure you have very exfoliated and even lips before you think to try this product on :)

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stain Review & Swatches

REVLON HAS DONE IT AGAIN!

Look how cute these are! Oh man do Clinique Chubby sticks and Tarte Lip Surgence pencils have some tough competition. HOLY CRAP, YES THEY DO!!!! I was lucky enough to spot some of these revlon just bitten kissable balm stains and they are FANTASTIC!!! I've only had it for a day, but I can't stop using them! :P
I picked up three shades - precious (nude), cherish (cool pink), and sweetheart (bright pink)

They are these chubby lipbalm sticks that do not have to be sharpened! They twist up! They provide a wonderful balm texture that not only hydrates your lips, but that have a lasting stain.

I am absolutely adoring the formula of this lip balm stain! HOLY MOLY! It's so nice! It's not as glossy and slick as the tarte lip surgence, but it has more of a balm like texture/feeling that leaves my lips feeling way more hydrated. It has a slight minty scent, which is nice and refreshing - similar to the tarte as well!

Here are the swatches of the colors on my hand! :)

Here are some lip swatches:
These are just some of my dry nakey lips lol
Precious: a beautiful everyday nude color! I honestly think this is the PERFECT nude color for me. Just sheer enough so it doesn't make me look dead, but pigmented enough that it looks like an amazing nude!
Cherish: a beautiful cool pink color. This is a really pretty pink - its not necessarily very unique, but it does look extremely gorgeous on the lips! It stains to a gorgeous pale pink that just looks like you have awesome naturally pigmented lips lol!
Sweetheart: This is such a fun, hot pink. I think the picture makes it almost look neon which kinda freaks me out, but its a beautiful summer hot pink lip. It's a perfect bright hot pink - not too deep, not too hot. I absolutely adore this one and it stains into a perfect bitten pink look. I can see myself wearing this a lot in the summer!
I thought this combo looked just so pretty - so I had to share it. After sweetheart stained my lips, i wanted to put another balm color on my lip, so i put precious on top of the stained lips and it made the perfect everyday pink color on my lips! YUM!
Overall, I really...... REALLY... adore these! I have been loving chubby sticks like this for so long - they are easy and pretty. Honestly, I am so glad that Revlon came out with these because now I do not have to waste 20+ dollars on a highend chubby lip pencil when these are just a mere $6.79 (give or take some dollars depending where you are). If you love your chubby lip pencils - look no further. GET THESE NOW!

I am looking forward to getting more - I really really want the orange one! LOL!
