Too Faced La Matte Lipstick Review

Because the Too Faced La Creme lipsticks are some of my favorite lippies, I was so darn excited to try these la matte lippies to review! Too Faced actually mailed me the whole collection, but because of my move - we have some sneaky fingers that stole them... so to whoever has my la matte lippie collection -- I hope that you are enjoying your lipsticks! >:(

Anyways - I still went to Ulta to go pick some up, because I was so intrigued by these! They are a matte formula lipstick with a balm like texture.. they are supposed to be moisturizing and hydrating... and let me tell you, THEY ARE! <3 *hearts*

If you know me, you know I have the most chapped, dry lips ever (probably because I need to drink more water lol sigh), but I have a deep deep love for matte lippies, which make my lips look terrible. This formulation is sensational though, it leaves a matte finish, yet leaves my lips feeling extremely hydrated. They are all very opaque in one swipe as well! These to me are very reminiscent of them Loreal Pro Matte Lippies! 

The one thing is, if you have extremely dry lips like mine, not all the colors will work on you. You will see below that the darkest shades did not look good on my lips (although it looked beautiful on other lips!). I would recommend definitely lip scrubbing and hydrating prior to using these if you are going to use a darker color. I also put the lippie on top of a balm, which also helped, but it left a more sheer look than the opaque matte lip color it promises (although equally as gorgeous!) 

My lips were SOOO chapped in this, and once I put it on, although they were still chapped, you couldn't really see the 'chapped-ness' anymore. It did a good job of actually hydrating my lips throughout the day. 

My favorite of the bunch - don't my lips look SO hydrated? (I can tell you they were cracked prior to wearing this) The color looks seamless and did not feather throughout the day. 

I was SO excited to try this color and when I put it on I was thinking "YES! THIS FEELS SO GOOD!" Then when I looked in the mirror, I kinda freaked out because it was slightly patchy and fell in the creases of my lips. I wanted to show you this as a worst case scenario type thing - once I put on a balm, scrubbed or hydrated before, it was must less chapped and evened out. This is a GORGEOUS color, but took way more maintenance than I imagined.

Overall, it had a couple hours of wear - the darker colors ended up slightly staining my lips (similar to the melted lippies) which was nice to not have to reapply. However, I LOVED reapplying this product because it just added so much more hydration to my lips! I feel like matte lipsticks that do that don't come by frequently! Sorry not sorry will be my next purchase (or the peach palette.... or the PB & J palette..... LOL!)

Too Faced Holiday Melted Set Swatches

Didn't realize how many people LOVED the too faced melted products. And I can TOTALLY see why! It has as satin-y velvet-y light weight feel to it and is fairly long lasting! The color pay off is beautiful and pigmented and wears for about 3 hours on me. After 3 hours, the glossiness is gone and it generally leaves (for darker colors) a slight stain on my lips.

Although I'm generally not a fan of these applicators, I found that it allowed my application to be very precise! I quite liked it, although I hate looking at it time after time seeing the old lipstick on the applicator. I want to wash it!

Be careful though, as you will see in some of these photos, it definitely will accentuate dry lips (especially flakey ones like me wah!), so make sure to exfoliate well before hand!

The holiday set was a PERFECT set to try out some different shades before investing in the full sized, because lets be honest, these minis are the PERFECT size (and will last a very long time!). Too Faced La Creme Lipstick Review

It's been a long while now hasn't it. I missed you all so much! Thank you to all my new readers! Sorry I've been gone - I lost my camera after Felix and my wedding, so I've been always scrounging to take pics on whatever camera I could get my hands on. but for my birthday, Felix ended up getting me a new camera! So life is good again! <3

Anyways...

So during the Sephora VIBCHIC sale I decided to pick up a few (or a lot) of things. I've been wanting to get the too faced lipstick for a while now (and at one point had one, but someone "borrowed" it and is now gone CRIES), but put it off since I have so many lipsticks... but I caved!

The packaging is quite nice. It comes in a semi matte gold case that looks gorgeous and feels luxurious since it's a bit weighty. It's nice a compact so it easily fits in my pocket or purse.

Anyway, I was itching to pick up a pretty spring color - so I opted to pick Razzle Dazzle Rose. This is the perfect cool pink color that isnt like OMG SHE'S WEARING NEON, but its not so muted that it looks like your lips - its just balanced enough that it looks like a little pop of color without being "too much" :) 

I adore the formula - it's quite pigmented and creamy and the application goes on quite smooth. In the below swatch, you can see the left is one swipe which is beautiful, but the right which has 3 swipes is way more pigmented. This color is lovely and buildable and as you can see from the sheen on these, the feeling is nice and moisturizing on my lips. 

Yes. My lips are very dry - so I apologize for the flakiness on my lips. That is not because of the lipstick! lol! The product lasted on my lips for about 2 hours before I had to reapply, but my lips felt mighty moisturized. They didn't flake or feel dry like most lip products for me do. 

Overall the product is a wonderful addition to my collection. The pigmentation, packaging and moisturization factor are good enough to make me want to repurchase more and more! :)
