Fenty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick Review

Happy New Year, loves! I'm back on here to share with you some Fenty lippies I just recently purchased. I didn't fall into the Fenty hype and didn't buy any products from their line... but then they came out with these plush matte lippies and I knew I had to pick some up! :P

I picked up two of them in Shawty (warm chestnut) and Spanked (dusty rose). This lipstick claims to be long-wearing, a petal-soft matte finish, weightless with intense color pay off.

Below are the swatches:

L-R: Shawty, Spanked

Alright - and here is my breakdown!

Packaging: The packaging is as lightweight as the product itself LOL! Although it looks incredibly cool and chic, the package is made of light plastic, making the product feel a bit cheap. However, the price point isn't as high, so maybe Rihanna did it to save on costs.

Pricing: The pricing is $18 for .06oz of product, which I believe is relatively little product. An UD Vice lipstick (pretty standard bullet) is .11oz at $17. That's almost double the amount of product for less cost. :T

Formula: The formula is pretty nice. Yes - it is incredibly lightweight and pigmented. It was also very creamy and comfortable on the lips. It is not transfer proof, so you touch ur lips, the product will begin to come off. It was relatively long wearing, but I felt that as the night progressed, the product became more dry on my lips. I mean... my lips in themselves are very dry - but I definitely felt like my dry "hang lips" started to become way more noticeable as the night went on. . . for sure on the darker color. Spanked didn't cause as much of a problem for me! The product however, did not feather and did stay put!

Application Process: This was kinda tricky for me. Because of the nature of the matte product and how pigmented it is, it's hard to get a very perfect application. It's extremely round, so trying to get a nice application on my cupids bow and pulling it down to the side, I felt like I was constantly messing up my lipstick.

Color Range:  I do also love the very unique color range - although I pick colors that are more in my comfort zone, I do find that it does really compliment my complexion as it will many other people.

Overall, it was an okay product for me! It is definitely a bit more of a luxury than it is a necessity. I would choose these lippies solely for the color range. The formula, although very nice - doesn't particularly stand out for the price that you're paying. If you do end up purchasing - don't get me wrong - it is a great product, but if you have dry lips, be prepared to exfoliate and moisturize first :)

NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment Swatches

You guys KNOW I have a thing for matte lippies, so when there's a product with the word 'matte' in it, you know I'm ON IT!!! :) I ordered these off sephora for an app presale and boy am I glad for it!

I believe there are 20 shades and they retail for $26 for .18fl oz. Although can only give you first impressions, I'm thoroughly impressed already. Each lippie I purchased is pretty much completely opaque and are incredibly long wearing. There is a nice range of colors, however I picked up four shades (most in the neutral shades except one deep).

These are the four shades I picked up :)

L-R: Save the Queen, Get it On, American Woman, London Calling

Get it On - tan rose (fully dry)

American Woman - Chestnut Rose (half way dried)
Save the Queen (favorite!) - dusty mauve

London Calling - Lilac Pink (IMO it was way darker than this! lol, it was more of a deep purply pink)

Here's my breakdown:

Texture: It starts off as a liquid and begins to dry down. It is incredibly lightweight and comfortable. It did land slightly in the cracks of my lips (not very noticeable) , but not the way a drying matte formula would.

Moisture: I'm most impressed by this because for any sort of matte formula - this is one of the most comfortable lip products for its long wearability. After 6 hours of wear, my lips did not feel dry.

Long Lasting ability: This lasted about 6+ hours (after that it was more apparent on the outer rim of my lip) including eating and drinking (water ;). Although it is not completely transfer proof (still moved if I wiped), it is definitely resistant to movement. After the color faded, there was still a nice lingering stain.

Pigmentation: is WOW. one swipe and it is completely opaque across the board on all my shades.

Packaging: I love the sleek package of nars products. Although it was incredibly liquidy, the square doefoot was very helpful in making very accurate and precise movement across my lips.

Overall -- I need to pick up more! LOL :) Definitely worth it if you are a matte lippie girl!

I purchased mine at sephora which comes out mid July but you can also purchase these on the Nars website or at a nars boutique :)

Too Faced La Matte Lipstick Review

Because the Too Faced La Creme lipsticks are some of my favorite lippies, I was so darn excited to try these la matte lippies to review! Too Faced actually mailed me the whole collection, but because of my move - we have some sneaky fingers that stole them... so to whoever has my la matte lippie collection -- I hope that you are enjoying your lipsticks! >:(

Top to Bottom: When in Doubt, Pitch Perfect, Maneater
Anyways - I still went to Ulta to go pick some up, because I was so intrigued by these! They are a matte formula lipstick with a balm like texture.. they are supposed to be moisturizing and hydrating... and let me tell you, THEY ARE! <3 *hearts*

L-R: When in Doubt, Pitch Perfect, Maneater

If you know me, you know I have the most chapped, dry lips ever (probably because I need to drink more water lol sigh), but I have a deep deep love for matte lippies, which make my lips look terrible. This formulation is sensational though, it leaves a matte finish, yet leaves my lips feeling extremely hydrated. They are all very opaque in one swipe as well! These to me are very reminiscent of them Loreal Pro Matte Lippies!

The one thing is, if you have extremely dry lips like mine, not all the colors will work on you. You will see below that the darkest shades did not look good on my lips (although it looked beautiful on other lips!). I would recommend definitely lip scrubbing and hydrating prior to using these if you are going to use a darker color. I also put the lippie on top of a balm, which also helped, but it left a more sheer look than the opaque matte lip color it promises (although equally as gorgeous!)

My lips were SOOO chapped in this, and once I put it on, although they were still chapped, you couldn't really see the 'chapped-ness' anymore. It did a good job of actually hydrating my lips throughout the day.

My favorite of the bunch - don't my lips look SO hydrated? (I can tell you they were cracked prior to wearing this) The color looks seamless and did not feather throughout the day.

I was SO excited to try this color and when I put it on I was thinking "YES! THIS FEELS SO GOOD!" Then when I looked in the mirror, I kinda freaked out because it was slightly patchy and fell in the creases of my lips. I wanted to show you this as a worst case scenario type thing - once I put on a balm, scrubbed or hydrated before, it was must less chapped and evened out. This is a GORGEOUS color, but took way more maintenance than I imagined.

Overall, it had a couple hours of wear - the darker colors ended up slightly staining my lips (similar to the melted lippies) which was nice to not have to reapply. However, I LOVED reapplying this product because it just added so much more hydration to my lips! I feel like matte lipsticks that do that don't come by frequently! Sorry not sorry will be my next purchase (or the peach palette.... or the PB & J palette..... LOL!)

These are exclusive to Ulta and toofaced.com and run for $22 per lippie! Will you be picking any up!?

Loreal laLaque + leMatte Lip Colors

I'm never huge on drugstore products because of my sensitive skin, but occasionally (or more than that HA!) I enjoy picking up a couple new lip products to try out to see how drugstores are coming along. These are the fairly new Loreal Colour Riche leLaque and leMatte lip colors. It comes in 8 different shades of pinks, corals, browns and purples. Although I think that is fairly versatile, most of the colors are very bold. I wish it came in more every day neutral colors! Here's my break down:

Packaging: These are lipsticks in a almost lip pencil form. The twist up contraption is very easy to use and good for preciseness. The one thing I find is if you don't twist up high enough, as you are applying, you are getting product all over the packaging.

Smell: The smell is similar to the regular Loreal lipsticks. Slightly overpowering of the flowery, old lady smell.  Not a huge fan, but I would still use it :P

Formula/Moisture/Pigmentation: I love the texture.

The laque formula is similar to loreal lipsticks. It is thick and moisturizing without being overbearing. It gives full coverage of lipstick, but could be nice and sheer if you put just a little bit. the laque formula is very moisturizing- as are all loreal lipsticks for me!

the matte formula is slick and moisturizing. It's not dry (unlike most matte lipsticks) and has amazing lasting power. You do have to be careful, because mine transferred fairly easily (despite it being on my lips for a while), and I somehow had lipstick on my chin after a couple hours!

Lasting ability: I would say these have better lasting ability than their usual lipsticks. If you look below, the lematte formula lasted a good 7 hours before you started to see serious wear. The lelaque formula lasted a nice 5 hours before I had to reapply. I know some people experienced feathering with the leMatte formula, but I didn't have that problem (as I don't usually have much problem with feathering)

Loreal leLaque in 411 and leMatte in 408.
twist up contraption makes it so easy to apply!
Loreal leLaque in 411 and leMatte in 408.
Showing the beautiful sheen of the leLaque formula compared to the matte formula!
Here is the laLaque formula in 411 - it gives a beautiful opaque color. Its a gorgeous everyday neutral mauve pink.
Here is the laMatte formula in 408. Gorgeous rich opaque color as well. Extremely precise!
I apologize for the strange flash! I was in a place that didn't have much light! Here is the lipstick after 5 hours. (I drank some water with a straw and had half a sandwich by this time) As you can see, still pretty intact!
This was after about 7 hours, as you can see, the color in the center of my lips have completely come off, just leaving an epically cool lip liner ring of red on the outside. (and my skin is so shiny ew!)

Overall, this is a great new product. I definitely recommend it. If you can get over the 'loreal smell,' these are definitely worth the hype and worth a try! They have a lot of nice vibrant shades, I'm looking forward to hopefully them getting in more neutral shades *cough*

For more swatches of the other colors check out my good friend Jenny's post with her lip swatches as well! :)

Thanks for reading! xo

Hourglass Opaque Rouge Review and Swatches

Oh how I love me some hourglass products. I swear by their mineral veil primer, their concealer and their glosses. When I heard about about these matte lip colors that lasted 14 hours, I was like 'whaaaat' haha I had to try it!

These lip colors come in these cute little lip gloss form (looks like their travel size lip glosses), but don't be deceived because awesome things come in little packages!

I picked up two colors, edition and canvas.

swatches of the lip products. Left is canvas, right is edition.
Canvas is an amazing 'your lips but better' color that I love to wear for every day. It looks so natural yet effortless. People probably just thought my lips looked hella amazing ;)

Edition was the first color I was drawn to. It is a muted bright pink with gold shimmers in it. I would love it way more if it didn't have gold shimmers, but it does add a pretty shine to it. I just find that after a long wear with it, the glitter particles are what sticks around on my lips rather than the lip product.

two coats applied

These have a wonderfully moisturizing texture when you first place the product on your lips. It feels thin and slippery. Quickly after, it begins to thicken and get a bit sticky. After about 30 seconds it become a completely matte formula. If you press your lips VERY strongly, you can still feel a sticky pull, but for the most part it is very matte and very much on your lips.

For me, the color did not transfer once it was dry. The only slight issues I had were if my lips weren't exfoliated, the product quickly settled into the cracks of my lips and made me look slightly scary with patchy products on my lips. After chatting with my good friend Rae, she recommended before the product was dry, to run your fingers over your lips, which was great advice!

One other thing --- Hourglass claims a 14 hr wear but that was not the case with me. With eating and such at MOST, it lasted me an 8 hour day. Even without eating, I could see it wearing off just a bit after the 4 hour mark. I think that was the only thing that made me 'ehh' a little bit, because why claim something that is so long when it isn't the case! lol (maybe i talk to much.....)

Overall these are amazing products but it comes with conditions. You MUST condition and exfoliate your lips or else the product will look a hot mess after a bit of time!

You can purchase this at sephora.comhttp://www.sephora.com/opaque-rouge-liquid-lipstick-P375384?skuId=1439447 or at any hourglass counter.
