Christian Louboutin Nail Polish - First Impressions

I have been anxiously awaiting my new Louboutin nail polish to arrive and it FINALLY ARRIVED TODAY! even though I literally just did an easy nail tutorial for you all… I didn't care, I had to take it off to get this up for you all!
the beautiful box it comes in!

It is everything Louboutin and more. Luxurious, badass and classy. Worth the hype? Honestly, I would have to say.. YES!
Okay, so first off - lets just talk about the packaging. Let me know if you think that any of these polishes stand out from the rest? (lol) The CL polish's packaging just doesn't compare with the rest! It does come in a fairly heavy weight bottle (with an obvious huge ass stick). Unfortunately, this bottle holds about .4 fl oz, which holds slightly more than a dior bottle (.33) of nail polish and slightly less than an essie bottle of polish (.5oz). So don't be deceived by how large the product actually looks, it holds a standard size of polish for you.

The applicator may be a bit hard to get used to because of the huge wand and its heaviness, but you will quickly get used to the luxury. It has a standard looking brush, similar to Essie.

Now onto the polish. Oh goodness. It is a fairly thin, liquidy formula - but in that thin coat, it is very rich, shiny and opaque. You can definitely JUST use one coat and it's already perfection. I've never had a nail polish that is quite like this formula -- I think the closest similarity would be to one of my other favorite reds - Chanel Dragon. It has a similar thin but opaque quality, but it lacks in shininess.
one coat
two coats
I ended up using two coats anyway, which just built to the richness of this polish. The dry time was fairly quick. When I was midway to the second hand, it was completely dry already. I could actually rub (not just touch) my nail and it was already set. I think the real test is to see how long it lasts on my nails. Given that I just got it maybe an hour ago, I will have to update this post to let you know in fact how long it lasts. So far though, I am loving this polish!!

love the shininess of this polish! no top coat needed!
I know that people have hated on the fact that it is a $50 polish- but let's just think a bit about CL. Known for their classic heels with colored soles - people pay hundreds to thousands of dollars on something that I could go to a regular store to buy for $50. People pay for the statement the shoe makes and the luxury and high quality of the shoe. This is the same concept. This is a very classic red nail polish, with a very unique design and statement. Yes, you can go to any store to get a 5 dollar bottle of red polish, but it is if you are willing to pay the extra for the statement of the polish, along with the luxury and extreme high quality of the polish. Up to the type of person to see if it's worth it or not! For me, absolutely!!! I plan to have a badass nail collections, just like people do, shoes!

Christian Louboutin - Rouge Louboutin Nail Polish!!!

image from christianlouboutin.com
(the shoe is not part of the polish shah!)

I can't contain my excitement… but today is the day that the Christian Louboutin NAIL POLISH has debuted!

According to CL - "The Red Sole was born from red nail polish. I am giving back to nails, what the shoe took from the nails many years ago" I love this!!!

They launch today at Saks flagship with a couple of 'must have' polishes - a red, bright pink, baby pink and i believe a khaki type color. They will set you back a huge huge huge $50 amount per bottle (and each bottle seems to have less polish than a regular nail polish bottle), but you can't deny the louboutin inspired packaging. Looks like a fountain pen -- or a weapon.

Either way, undeniably flawless and louboutin, I can't wait to try it out and see if the polish is just as good quality as his shoes ;D

It's coming out at sephora soon (which i thought was pretty crazy)!

what do you think? would you SPLURGE just because its CL? lol I feel like I'm going to splurge, then be over it after I try it. I'm hoping it won't be an addiction like some people have to CL shoes! :P

CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss

I've heard some rave reviews about this product, so I wanted to give it a shot. These new CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Glosses that state to be a base coat, polish and top coat all in one while lasting up to seven days! The do it all polish!!

Now I'm intrigued by this, partially because I love long lasting polishes, cheap prices, but also because I'm lazy as hell - so if I can skip steps, I will try it out for sure.

I picked up Forever Frosted because I always look for the perfect everyday polished color... a "bridal" color, if you will. And let me tell you - it did a great beautiful application in two coats, but I did three coats because I love very opaque polishes. The polish is extremely shiny after application. My sister and I both wore the same color and she wanted to put on top coat, and honestly you couldn't tell the difference between either of our polishes.

So far I've had this polish on my nails for 3 days and a couple of hours and I still don't have one chip yet - only a teeny nix i had when I was trying to multitask when the polishes were wet.

This picture is after two days wear with lotion on my hands  (so its not as shiny as it is!)

It seems to be a wonderful polish and I'm glad they have a 45 range of shades! I'm looking forward to trying more colors - so pretty :)

You can purchase these at drugstore - I picked mine up from CVS for around 6 dollars!

HOLIDAY NAIL POLISH!

It is that time of year where its time to whip out fantastically holiday-ish fun... especially on your nails! When I think of holiday - I automatically think of holiday colored glitter (especially GOLD!)

Kirsten, owner and maker of allthatglitters nail polish was kind enough to send me her whole holiday collection of polish. Holy SHMOLY, it was like christmas blew up in the best kind of way.

Unfortunately, after my wedding I lost my camera. I know it is somewhere at my dad's house amidst all of the stuff that was thrown together and packed, I just have yet to find it. I was also scared I wouldn't have time to borrow my sister's fancy camera in time to show you these awesome polishes.

Therefore, I had to resort to using my iphone and jazzing them up in instagram form.

Here they are in all of their glory (i'm only missing one which will be in a giveaway on my youtube channel soon!). How fun do they look altogether?! <3

The swatches below are all on fake french nails. This way you can personally see the opacity of each color with two coats of polish.

Here is cool yule which is my favorite out of the bunch. It's a gorgeous opaque light blue with medium size, circular glitters in blue, purple and a teal. It reminds me of glittering snow!

Here's Pinch of Grinch, which is surprisingly fun. It's a metallic green with small silver, green and red glitter, medium hexagonal darker green and red glitter and an occasional fun YELLOW STAR!!! I always get so excited when a star comes out! Although this is gorgeous alone, as you can see - it is not completely opaque, but when it is layer over an opaque color the green REALLY stands out. (i put it on top of a black color and it was FANTASTIC)

I LOVE THIS NAME! <3 Here is eggnog wasted which is effortlessly fun! It's a creamy white-ish base with teeny gold glitters, small red and copper-ish glitters and green flecks! This is like a party on your fingers! Although you can still see my french tip base underneath the polish, I think with one more coat, the opacity would be perfect. I love how all of her polishes evenly distributes all the fun glitter so you aren't crazy worried everytime you paint your nails.

Let me preface this by saying in no angle did any picture do this polish justice. It's so holigraphically fun! Its a silver base with all sorts of iridescent, holigraphic fun in small glitter, hexagon shapes, squares etc! I've seen swatches of this being completely opaque silver, but mine seems quite sheer. I put this top single coat of my silver Xtreme hardware (sally hansen) polish and it was SO FUN. I think this color on top of different bases would really help the iridescent sparkles really stand out.

You can find her polishes at her etsy shop here :)

Will try to get the others up soon! and a fun holiday tutorial this weekend!
enjoy your weekend! x jess

Butter London Trustafarian

Oh Trustafarian, Trustafarian. <3 This is one of the new Fall Colors and I am in LURVE. I see awesome pics of cute silver holographic nails and I always wondered if they would have them in different colors... and Butter London decided to make it in a gorgeous pale leaf green color!

It is definitely for me, a fall color with a bit of spunk! From far away, it looks just like any normal pale green color but in the light, GOSH! It has some of the most gorgeous holographic rainbow goodness! These pictures don't do this polish justice!

Here are some nail swatches! Please excuse my horrible cuticle painting polish job LOL.

Hopefully I was able to capture some of the beautiful rainbow fun for you! :D

Butter London Spring 2012

My good friend Michelle - my usual cutie patootie bought me a couple of the Butter London Spring 2012 collection for Christmas. They have some really fabulous colors... Here are the colors!

They are in (L-R) Bossy Boots, Disco Biscuit, Knackered, Slapper and Trout Pout!

Naturally I begin eyeing Bossy Boots and Trout Pout because I am queen of colors that are creamy and springy looking lol. I'd have to admit though, Disco Biscuit and Knackered are definitely the unique colors of the bunch.... and of course....

Michelle picked me up those two!!!! They look SO pretty in the bottle. I just want to take it and pour it all over everywhere and paint the world these two fun colors! Gah! I can't even begin to express how beautiful these colors look. I hope I was able to capture some of the glitteriness and fun!

Here is the first color that EVERYONE will be gaga over. Knackered - it has that opal-y effect where its a grey/purple metallic color and in different angles can turn blue/green-ish! WOW! And what makes this even better is that there are little holographic glitters in it!

When first applied, I was kind of disappointed because I expected it to be more opaque than it is. It is actually quite a sheer formula where in three coats I can still see light tinges of the whites of my nails... even still, you can't deny the beauty of it. I think next time I will opt to wear a colored base underneath!

The two pictures below are with 3 coats applied --- I loveeee how on some nails the polish looks green and some they look purple. ag! amaze!

Disco Biscuit looks like it should be a raspberry candy. It's such a pretty hot magenta-y pink and then SPARKLES!!! it has little blue & purple glitters in it. It's really fun because from far away, it looks like a regular pink, but then up close you are like... wha? is that frigin GLITTER?! amaze! ;) Again, similar to knackered, this color was more sheer than I anticipated, but with three coats, it was opaque to my liking.

Sorry I only have this one shotty picture of my nails. Its really a gorgeous color, especially in the sunlight. My cuticles were looking SOOO dry and so I went to put on lotion and then as I wiped my hands, I wiped off ALL the polish since they weren't dry yet LOL. *epic fail*

These two colors, although more on the sheer side, did make me feel like I was at a black light party. They are fun, fantastic and a great jump into spring.

NOTD: roomie style :)

Mar 4, 2011 | | 3 comments

Here are my roomie & my nails of the day! :) I believe that these nail styles we did truly capture who we are- my roommate is loud, bold, daring and sexy, while i'm prim and proper with some spunk ! HAHA well, at least thats what I took out of it! LOL!

Dont mind my teeny tiny nails because i'm in the middle of midterms and i bit those suckers right off! I know, its terrible, but its an awful habit when i get nervous!!! :)

I did one coat of OPI's I Vant ti be a-lone star... This is from some Texas line!

Then I put two coats of the Deborah Lippman nail varnish in Glitter in the Air. I think this is the most gorgeous and subtle nail polish ever. I will have a full review on it soon, but it's just the right amount of glitter to make it not over the top, especially when i want to wear glitter for work!

Here are Ritz's bold and beautiful nails. The bottom color is Mac's Soiree (champale collection) and the leopard print was done with my konad stamper and Mac's Military (alice and olivia collection). So cute!!

Fall Lovin': China Glaze Vintage Vixen

AH! LOVING LOVING LOVING the new China Glaze Vintage Vixen line!

Now, I am NOT the type of girl that likes any pearly, sparkly nail polish. I like my nail polishes glossy and that's it... but for some reason this season... I'm LOVING the fall colors with some sparkles!! Gem tones & metallics are really in this season.. which is perfect for me right now cus i'm all about the sparklies!!!!!!

Now their whole line is all pretty sparkly colors. I really loved this line because the sparkles are really subtle, so even those that are FREAKED by glittery nail polish, can even enjoy this! I picked up three colors- I picked these three up because I felt like I would wear these the most. If the color wasn't sparkly, would I still wear the color? Thats how I chose which colors I got! (And of course I would pick red, plum and taupe) Check them out!!

Foxy is a really beautiful ruby red- like dorothy's shoes! I'm so excited to whip this out for christmas parties and stuff! It looks so beautiful with the pretty gold shimmers in it.

Here is Bogie! It is such a pretty eggplanty, plum color!! This color is really special because the sparklies aren't just silver, but you can see almost ... rainbow colors when the light shines on it. So pretty!
THIS IS MY FAVORITE ONE BY FAR!!! from far away it looks like any other taupe-y grey color- like mink muffs or something... but then when you look closely, there are little copper sparkles. SOOOO gorgeous and unique. I absolutely LOVE this for fall and cannot stop wearing this color!!!

Now, the nail polishes themselves are OK quality. They are a cheaper nail polish brand, so yes they chip pretty quickly... but on the upside, you only need two coats to make a nice opaque look. BUT, their colors are so unique, I couldn't resist. I would give it the full A+, but just because of the easy chippage....

Grade: A
