Urban Decay Naked Skin Shapeshifter Swatches and Review

I've been so obsessed with all of UD's lip products, I forgot (nor have I ever tried!!!) about their face products! This is one of my first times trying out their powder and creme face products, so I was super excited!! And they (as usual) didn't disappoint me! In fact, I'm ready to stick this into my makeup artistry kit because I feel like it's such a great staple with a great range of shades.

I picked this up at the Makeup Show, so was able to try it out a bunch before the official launch (Today!!) This comes in two different shades: Light Medium and Medium Dark. On one side, there are four powders: dark contour, medium contour, light contour and a highlight.

Dark contour, Medium Contour, Light Contour, Highlight

On the other side, there are 5 creme products: dark contour, light contour, 2 correctors (one can also serve as a matte highlight) and a highlight.

Dark contour, light contour, corrector, corrector/highlight, highlight

Here is my breakdown of the products:

Packaging: I am a huge fan of this packaging. Its dense enough to make you know that it's durable, but its small and compact enough to travel with. I love that BOTH SIDES of the products have a mirror which makes life SO much easier for me! It did NOT come with a brush like many UD products, but this allows you to be flexible to use whichever  tool you are used to.

Color: I love the color selection here. I love that the contour shades have one slightly warmer and one slightly grey. I also LOVE the corrector colors - its everything I love in one! All shades are very pigmented - however the highlight shades on both sides just give more of a luminous glow - but not quite the crazy pigments that highlighters these days have.

Texture: The powders are extremely finely milled and pigmented. A little bit goes a long way with these and its so incredibly soft and blendable. The cremes are silky and thin and allow for good blending time and turn into a powder form when dry.

Long Lasting Ability: It was a very long lasting product for me. The powders stayed on all day for me. I haven't used the cremes long enough to know the lasting ability. My skin gets sweaty and splotchy a lot - so I couldn't get an accurate read on the cremes yet!

Overall - I think this is an amazing staple product for every makeup artist. I'm literally putting this into my kit ASAP. I love the versatility of this product - you can use it for virtually anyone, do it for the perfect day or night look. Super excited to use this product more!

This product is $45 and is now available at sephora online

If you are interested in WINNING one - definitely come along for the ride on my IG @jessicalee422 :)

Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks: More Swatches!

Aug 24, 2016 | | 0 comments
I'm going to take a quick break from Japan blogging (have 3 more days to write about!) to share with you some more UD vice lip swatches. You guys KNOW I love these lipsticks if you read my original Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Swatch post.

Anyway... I was blessed enough to have Urban Decay send me a bunch more! They sent me Wende's (founder) top 10 picks! It's kinda cool and fun to see the different lipsticks that different people like. It's pretty cool because you can tell she's a very versatile woman! lol - she chooses browns to hot pinks to reds to purples to nudes... she's got them all! :)

Here are the lipsticks from L-R: Disturbed (CM), Conspiracy (M), Menace (CM), 714 (MM), Big Bang (M), Pandemonium (MM), Rocksteady (C), Naked (C), Firebird (C) and Backtalk (CM).

Because you guys know how I already feel about these formulas, I decided to show you my top three of these lipsticks! (Although that was hard because they are all so gorgeous!)

 Naked (Cream Finish): Nude Pink
When I first saw the lipstick, I was like aww no... it looks too light! (Kinda the way I feel when I see velvet teddy from mac lol) but it's not! The color on the bottom of the lipstick (which almost looks like yellow-peach) does not match the actual color of the lipstick! It's perfection in a tube and I think can be everyone's MLBB color! It does lean warmer, but I think this could still be a great fit for those who have cooler skin as well. I tend to stick to cooler shades, but this color truly brightens up my face!

Backtalk (Comfort Matte): Mauve Nude Pink
This is similar to the Naked except it leans a bit more cool (mauve) and has a matte finish (lol okay so they really aren't that alike...LOL)  Since cool tones look better on me, this is my perfect lip color (similar to my favorite Rush, but that has a different finish). I love that it has this matte finish, it looks polished but effortless!

Conspiracy (Metallized): Plum Bronzed Shimmer
At first glance, this just looks like a brown shimmer lipstick... but its SO much better than that! lol! I'm not one to really love shimmer lippies, but this one surprised me. It didn't irritate my lips and had a formulation just like the creams. The color from some angles look brown and some look plum and it is so cool! This is one of those lipsticks that make you feel badass and cool - maybe because my fifth grade teacher ALWAYS wore a shimmery bronzed lipstick and I thought she was the coolest person ever. This lipstick.. definitely makes you feel that way!

I'm so grateful for the opportunity to try more lipsticks. Thank you SO much Urban Decay (and Monika!) again for sending these over!

Now they also sent over 10 lip pencils.... raise your hand if you want swatches!!!
(PS I've never tried these before so I have to give them a whirl first!)

OH. btw. if you want to see Firebird, Rocksteady and 714 in live swatches. Here was an old video of my swatches from the Gwen Stefani collection!!! I love those three hippies as well ;D (Starts at 5:11)

ftc. as stated above, UD sent me these products for review purposes. All thoughts and opinions are my own! :)

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Swatches and Review!

Jul 19, 2016 | | 0 comments
Hey hey friends! Hope you are well :)

I've had the UD vice lippies for over a month now and I'm ready to share with you my thoughts!!! at $17 a lipstick and 100 shades to choose from - it can be an overwhelming task! (but overwhelming in the best way :P)

They are broken down into 5 different finishes:

Mega Matte: super-intense matte
Comfort Matte: creamy matte
Cream: creamy, moisturizing finish
Metallized: cream with a high level of pearl
Sheer: a punch of color with a sheer, shiny finish
Sheer Shimmer: slightly transparent finish with floating pearl and smooth texture

The lipsticks I swatched for you only come from 3 of these finishes and I've only tried 4 of the finishes. I personally am not a shimmer/metallic kinda girl, so I have yet to try either of those! So let me show you the swatches and tell you my overall thoughts on each lipstick type!

Cream Finish Lipsticks:
RUSH: pink mauve cream
INTERROGATE: medium peachy rose cream
MOSHPIT: berry plum cream

I LOVE the cream formula. They are very similar, if not identical to the original cream formula lipsticks that UD offers. They are extremely pigmented and hydrating. With their wear, it allows my dry (like seriously dry) lips to get some moisture love. I particularly liked the lighter shades (Rush has been nonstop on my lips as my every day color). For me, they lasted about 3-4 hours before it began to fade. The lighter colors still felt moisturizing, but the color needed to be reapplied (which I never minded!) but the darker color for me was slightly problematic. The color faded, leaving a pretty stain - however, the darker color would linger in the cracks of my dry arse lips... therefore leaving a quite frightening cracked lip look (a little bit zombie-ish!) if I didn't smudge my lips.. so definitely be sure to make sure to blend it out!

 Comfort Matte Lipsticks:
CARNAL: medium warm nude
NOTORIOUS: medium berry

I LOVE myself a matte lip and I received 714 which was originally from the Gwen Stefani collection as a MEGA matte.

Mega Matte: If you are a matte lover - you will LOVE the mega matte lippie. It took a couple of swipes to get even coating (although it is VERY opaque, it was just a bit harder to apply because of the formula) but it was moisturizing for a matte lipstick and legit kept on!!! It was probably on my lips for a good 6 hours before fading.

Comfort Matte: The comfort matte is similar, but not as hard to apply and had a bit more of a slippery texture compared to the mega matte. Although I love how the product looked and felt (moisturizing for a matte lip!), I found the transfer and if my lips accidentally touched anything or if I ate, the lipstick would end up either on my teeth or on whatever my lips were touching! (haha.. not that my lips often touch many things . . . . . LOL)

So there are pros and cons to both - if you like the matte lip and want it to be more comfortable but don't mind a bit of transfer - comfort matte is for you! If you want a matte lip that really stays but may feel a little more drying than other matte lippies - then mega matte is for you!

Sheer Lipstick:
TMI: soft mauve pink
I love love love this lipstick so much. This was probably by far the most moisturizing of the four. It feels and looks similar to the creams, however it provides (obvi from the name) a more sheer coverage. My lips got sunburnt this weekend and they started bleeding a bit and you can see a bit of that on my lips peeking through (where as the others you can't) but this also has delicious buildable coverage so they aren't skimping on pigmentation either! This is a great lipstick if you are nervous to try bigger bolder colors and need to ease your way in! And the formula is wonderful as well! Man!!! UD does mauve colors WELL!!!

Here are all the color swatches I have in their glory! The Hot Pink one is not swatched because my friend really wanted it, so I gave it to her lol! but that one is Crush which is a hot pink cream!

Here is also a video of the swatches if you would rather watch them in action:

Have you tried these lippies out?? Which one would you get?!?! I purchased mine from Sephora.com and Ulta.com, but you can also purchase online at urbandecay.com

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer and Foundation

Way back when the Naked Skin line came out - I had purchased the UD concealer. Why I stopped, I'm wondering that now LOL!
One of the most unique things about the Naked Skin concealer is this awesome doefoot!!! Their doe foot applicators are one of my favorite applicators I've found yet! It dispenses just the right amount of product onto your face.

From L-R: Foundation shade 4.0, Concealer shade light to medium, Concealer shade medium to dark

Let's begin by talking about the foundation! This is the first time I've ever used UD foundation - and this one is really lovely! It claims to be lightweight and invisible and leave a semi matte, luminous finish. As you can see - it did a nice job of covering my face slightly - it almost seems like a nice soft focus feel. I can still see some blemishes peeking through, but definitely less visible! It was very weightless and felt like skin. It took a bit to dry (definitely over 5 minutes), but it did leave me with a semi matte finish. It didn't leave my face looking so caked up and flat a regular matte foundation! I am in shade 4, and although it was a perfect match for me - I could see how it could potentially be too yellow for some skintones - so hopefully they have other colors in their range!

Then I took this lovely product to the next step and used the concealer as a highlight for my undereyes and anywhere the light would hit! I love this concealer as it is extremely pigmented, yet also weightless on the face. The only thing I will say is that I need to pick a lighter shade as almost every product seems to oxidize heavily on my face. This one didn't seem extremely drastic, but it was enough for me to notice half an hour later.

Here we're trying to contour by using a shade darker and I'm placing it where my cheek bones would be and above my temples! -- seems like the perfect effortless look!

And here we are - a perfectly contoured face that looks like my cheekbones are JUST that good! I like that this product doesn't allow my face become ashy as many products do. This one gave just the right bit of luminosity to make my skin look like 'my skin'!

Naked 3 palette!

my horrible swatches + an eye look :)

In celebration of it arriving in Sephora and Ulta (SURPRISINGLY NOT sold out yet!) I decided to post up a couple pictures of my naked 3 palette! :)

I received it a couple weeks ago before Thanksgiving. I've only used it a couple times, so I can't give a complete review on it. What I can say is that I thought I wouldn't want this one because it has more of the pinky hues... but I'm pleasantly surprise at how wearable the shades are (haha i suppose thats why it's called 'naked' hhaha!) Generally I steer clear of pinks because I have monolids, it gives me a nice punched look... but this was way softer and easier to work with. And I really love the results!

PS. Of course on the day I tried to get good pictures, the weather was horrible! So I have crappy yellow lighting pictures for it. I will get new swatches up soon. and when I do, I will swap out these fugly pictures!

Without further ado, here is the gorgeous naked 3 palette!

Here was the look I came up with :)

Lid: Limit.
Crease and transition color: Nooner.
Outer V: Darkside + Blackheart.
Highlight: Strange.
Under the eyes: Factory.

Also I left the fall out so you can see how much did not make it onto my eye. Not too bad considering how soft and creamy UD shadows are. ;D

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Turn On

Hello there! Sorry I missed our Sunday chitchat time! Was feeling under the weather this weekend, but don't worry I'll be back in full force next sunday ;D

I've been loving the Urban Decay Revolution Lipsticks. They come in a huge range or colors. I love this formula because they are pigmented and moisturizing without being super slippery. I was so impressed by this formula because you only really need one swipe on your lips to achieve the color that you want.

I even decided to try a dark red color in sephora and left the rest of the day for shopping. It didn't feather and it lasted for a good 3-4 hours. Totally impressive.

I opted for the color turn on because it's one of those colors that are bright enough for people to look at you and say 'that girl looks fun' but not too bright to be unwearable in more conservative settings. On my lips, I would say it's a muted, rosy hot pink. On Sephora they describe it as just a 'rosy pink'

I love the packaging. It's reminiscent of hourglass packaging which is luxurious, but because of it's etching and texture of the packaging, it totally screams 'bad ass' ;D! I also appreciate the sturdy packaging where it leaves no room for the lipstick to get dented and 'scratched' on the sides.

Left side is one swipe, right side is 3 or 4 swipes.

Did you get NAKED 2?

Ohh.. the sequel to the much loved Naked palette!!! :) I was able to snatch one quickly right when it launched last week.. apparently it sold out in minutes!

Here are some swatches of the palette!
Foxy (matte), Half Baked, Bootycall, Chopper
 Tease (matte), Snakebite, suspect, pistol
 Verve, YDK, Busted, Blackout (matte)

 Dual Ended Brush

 Baby Lipgloss!

What do I think?
Overall, I actually like the Naked 2 better than the Naked palette, but I'll be honest with you.. both are great and it's mostly preference. They are both AMAZING palettes with different things to offer. The obvious reasons why the Naked 2 is enhanced is because of its sturdier case and its larger mirror. The reasons why I prefer this is because I personally like cooler medium toned colors and the greyish/taupe colors that this palette brings. I also find the shimmeries in this palette way more wearable and the matte ones to compliment those shimmers much better.

The downside to purchasing UD is that I have a feeling I'm building a collection of a lot... of similar colors. . .
