Jouer Lip Enhancer Shine Balm Review + Swatches

I've been dying to try these since I was away this summer and I finally got to get my hands on these and boy, did these not disappoint! These are glossy and shiny and I'm loving this easy, on the go product!

The Jouer Lip Enhancer Shine Balm comes in 6 different shades at $18 per balm. If you order off of Jouer's website, there is always a 15% off code (CZoff I believe) that Christina (founder of Jouer) always offers. That means each lip balm ends up being $15.30.

In this six shade range, it ranges from a clear shade to a deep berry shade. Many of the shades lie in the neutral, wearable, every day shades. Personally, I love this mix - one clear, 3 neutrals, a red and a berry. I think the only thing that might have been missing is a brighter pink (but I don't care for those, so I"m happy with these shades! lol)

 Here are my thoughts on these balms:

Packaging: Its a beautiful, weighty packaging with a standard twist up product. Each package has a different (and beautiful) floral gold design. So far I've have no problems with it -- and it definitely feels more luxurious than that price point.

Moisturization: This is a definite YASSS! These are super hydrating and balmy despite the fact that they are tinted. It helps my lips reduce flakes and they do feel plumper after I use it.

Texture: The texture is more slippery than I thought it would be. It is a shine balm, so it adds LOTS of shine which I think can attribute to the slip. It's not thick or heavy, but leaves your lips feelings really nice and moisturized.

Pigmentation: I was pretty pleasantly surprised by how buildable the pigmentation is. Usually for tinted balms its either you get moisture or you get color, and this you definitely get both! Although it's not like full on the color of the tube, it gives you the perfect tint.

Lasting ability: Like most balms, this lasted 1-2 hours before it faded, however it's easy to reapply and keep in your bag. Some of the darker shades left a bit of a stain and left my lips hydrated even after the lip product was gone.

Overall, I'm loving these! I think that these are perfect for every day wear and that dahlia shade is going to be my go to shade for the fall and winter!!! For the price, I think it was worth every penny! I happen to pick them up at a bundle price which actually made them $13 and some change. I'm SO happy I picked them all up because I seriously am in love with every shade!

Hourglass GIRL Lip Stylo Lip Balm Swatches

 GUYSSS... you know how I love me some lip products.. so it was definitely not surprising when I was jumping and stalking when the Hourglass Lip Style Lipsticks were coming out! Not only is the packaging so sleek, but the product itself is JUST AS GOOD!!!

I love the idea behind these lipsticks - as Jenny Shimizu says:

There's no better beauty product than a lipstick to remind us to use our voices, fuel our passions, drive a purpose and make a change.

As a teacher, these are always the things that I'm trying to instill in my students and these lipsticks bring it back full circle for me. Not only does it have an AMAZING stand - each lipstick has an empowering name. Seriously... loving this concept so hard.“here’s no better beauty product than a lipstick to remind us to use our voices, fuel our passions, drive a purpose, make a change.

I received three of these amazing lippies from hourglass - Top to Bottom: 

Influencer, Creator and Leader

Leader - Gorgeous deep pink 

Formulation: The formulation of these are like a really glossy, hydrating lipstick (although its advertised as a lip balm, the color pay off is of a lipstick). It goes on effortlessly and smooth, leaves a gorgeous shine and overall just feels super comfortable on the lips. 

Color: The color payoff is amazing! Usually these types of lippies have a tendency to be more on the sheer side, but these do NOT skimp on pigmentation! They are high pigment for sure, even the nude colors! 

Hydration: I legitimately use this as like a lip balm because they are so incredibly hydrating and comfortable on the lips. If it weren't for the price point, I would definitely have so many right now LOL. I do also find my lips begin to feel a bit more plump after a lot of use - probably because of the hydration level! 

Lasting ability: Because of the nature of this formula, they do not last as long as other lippies on me. The nudes are about 2 hours and the deeper shades are about 2.5 before I begin to reapply. However, because this is such a nice formula, I would want to reapply often anyways! :P 

Price: These run for $32 each, which to me is quite steep for a lip balm. However, I do think that having tried this product and formula, I would splurge on this product, for sure. The packaging and product, with the twist up makes for a fancy high end item. 

Overall, I would definitely recommend this product, despite its price point or lack of longevity. I think that the positives by far outweighs those items because you would definitely want to keep reapplying anyways and because the packaging is just so sleek and functional, you don't want to be without it! I am waiting for Sephora's Spring 15% sale to pick up more!!!! I'm eyeing achiever, futurist and liberator :D

Lancome Juicy Shaker Review

I've been testing these new Lancome Juicy Shaker products for a while now since they first came out and my dry arse lips have not been happier!

These are Lancome's newest pigment infuse Bi-Phased Lip Oil: basically speaking, a tinted lip oil. It's a pretty unique product as I haven't seen many of these products out except the YSL lip oil tints and the Milani ones. However whenever I can get my hands on anything oily and hydrating for my lips I will definitely do it!

This comes in a cute little tub (thats in the shape of a shaker, I die) and the thought behind it is to shake the two step products: the oils and the pigment. In turn, you get this super beautiful sheer wash of color on your lips thats hydrating and nourishing!

Below are swatches of my lips of the three shades I have. You will see if how as I got to the darker shades, lip flakes started to disappear since it was becoming more and more hydrating on my lips! :)

And now my breakdown of the product:

Packaging: I love this packaging. I love the idea of it being in a shaker and the sponge tip packs in so much product that it makes it so easy to apply! It's such a unique packaging product. Usually I'm using a small doefoot to swipe over and over again, but I find I only need to swipe this once!

Smell: This product is much lighter than other lancome products, but still has its light floral scent to it. It's much fainter than other lancome products and I don't notice the scent when placed on my lips.

Formula: I love that this formula is packed with 5 different nourishing oils to pack in a gorgeous array of great benefiting products for your lips. It has apricot oil for hydration, rose oil for soothing properties, cranberry oil for antioxidants, peach oil for softening and sweet almond oil for nourishment. The more I used the product, the more my lips did feel hydrated and smooth. You will see in photos how the more I swatched, the less dry my lips looked lol! It provides a sheer wash of color on your lips with a gorgeous, smooth, nonsticky feeling.

Color: It ranges from light colors to some darker ones, and even a 'blue' clear color as well. Because of its sheer formula, however, I found that many of the lighter shades looked the same on me. The darker shades definitely stood out to me if you want more of a tint! Similar to other oil products, the longer your wear, the color will begin to fade quickly, but the hydration will still remain.

Longevity: I think this is where I would have to say the product lacked most in. It lasted about an hour before I had to reapply and the color faded within about 40-45 minutes for the lighter shades, whereas the darker shades lasted a tad longer. However, this is a very compact product that I was happy to apply often since it was so nice! :D

Overall - this is definitely worth trying! I think that its a super unique product that packs a lot of goodness into a little package. I think getting all 20 shades is not necessary since many of the shades look similar on the lips, however trying a bunch of the different types shades is definitely a must!!

Maybelline Elixir Color Lip Balms

Oh I Love these SOSO much!!!

I picked up four colors. I only pictured three because after one day of loving the mauve one so much and playing with it, I somehow managed to lose it. It was my favorite color of the bunch!!!! :(

These are the new Maybelline elixir color lip balms and IMO they are AMAZEBALLS... and from what I've heard, I believe they are permanent.

They are like a lip gloss / lip balm hybrid. And they are divine. Let me break it down for you.

Packaging: I absolutely adore the packaging. I love that its not just a clear tube with a 'gloss type thing inside,' but that the cut out of the tube is in the shape of a lipstick! I actually thought when I pulled it out it would be the lipstick shape. To my surprise there was a ridge-y slanted doe foot applicator (similar to the loreal lip stains). It provides really nice precise coverage because of the applicator.

Texture: AMAZE. I do not say these kind of things lightly, and I'm scared I may get hurt by some of my blogger friends... but these glosses are so plush and cushiony - they are reminiscent of some of my dior glosses (gasp!) I like how the texture is glossy and balmy, slightly thicker, but not sticky at all.

Color: The color payoff is not as great on the lips as you see in the tube. In fact, when I first picked them up, I was highly disappointed at the color because it was absolutely not the color I thought it would be. The celestial coral color looks like it would be a deep pink coral, was actually more of a jelly pink. Once I accepted the color was going to be slightly lighter than the tube, I was able to accurately pick which colors I would want. They are quite buildable on your lips depending what color you are using.

Wear time/moisture: This lasted only about 1-2 hours on my lips, but it did make my lips more hydrated and plump. Some colors have staining power, so it leaves a nice stain after the actual balm disappears.

Smell: It has this typical perfume-y sweet scent that like little girl's play lipglosses have. Do you know what I'm talking about? Some people will hate it, but I didn't notice the smell for very long.

 Overall - although the smell and color pay off is not what I hoped for, the product is something that is definitely worth trying out! I'm definitely going back to pick up more! I have a list of 6 more I want to try HAHA! #addicted #hoarder #LOL

em cosmetics review: pillow plush lip balm

My good friend gifted me with a bunch of emcosmetics goodies, which made me soso happy because I didn't have to spend a bajillion dollars to test out her products! So appreciative <3

I'm going to be doing these reviews one at a time on my blog and then give an overall review on my youtube channel.

Today I'll be talking about one of my favorite products: the pillow plush cushiony lip balm.

 

Packaging: I adore the packaging of this product. I love that its not a standard lip balm case. It has an adorable 'resin bump' sphere shape on the top which really adds to the detailing of the package. The one thing I don't prefer with the packaging is that it is a finger dipping product. I love to take these lip balms on the go, but after a dirty subway ride or getting some gas, the last thing on my mind will be to reapply lip balm to sooth my lips. I would much prefer something of a twist up balm or i'll even use a squeeze tube (which are my second least favorites LOL)

Smell: I love the smell of it. It's reminiscent of the cabbage patch doll smell with a hint of vanilla - um does anyone know what that smells like? It has a slightly sweet, slightly vanilla scent that is not overpowering. Also after applied on the lips, the smell disappears.

Texture: I LOVE the texture of the balm. It is slightly thicker, which for me is a thumbs up! and it gets better - although it is thicker, it does not get sticky. Although the color faded after about 2 hours, the feeling of the balm still lingered on my lips.

Moisture: This lip balm - although it doesn't quite compare to my cult favorites: Sara Happ Lip balm or Hourglass treatment lip oil, it does have a nice moisture factor. My lips felt slightly plumper after a couple hours of wear, which leads me to believe that the product is really penetrating nicely into my lips.

Color: I have this color in lollipop. I think this for me was the deal breaker. I think for a lip balm, this color was the star of the show. Generally for me lip balms have such slight colors that I think they should just keep the lip color clear. This one was nicely pigmented for a balm, but not overpowering to take the place of a lipstick or gloss.

lol omg i was doing swatch heaven, dont mind my extrememly dirty finger.

Overall: It does a great job as a balm with great color, texture and moisturization. although packaging is cute, it may not be the best pick for those who love to be extra hygienic because of the finger dipping package.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Petal

New Color! New Color!!!! I absolutely adore these Fresh lip treatments so much. like. SO much. I used to go through the original treatment so quickly because I used to be obsessed with the sugar lemony scent and the buttery, smooth, moisturizing and long lasting balm. 

And now they have a new color! This is called Petal and its said to be a sheer pink petal color.

How amazing is this case!? I think these are my favorite balm cases because they look sleek and amazing, while having a twist of cap! and I especially love that this one is PINK!!!! 

Although it is a bit similar to the Honey (which is a warm nude), it does lean more pink. 

let's not judge how extremelllly dry and chapped my lips are and the blemishes on my face! :P 

Directly after I put the balm on, it added such a beautiful wash of color. I would say it looks very similar to honey - but with a pink color. I suppose because it was called 'pink petal' - i expected it to be a little bit lighter of a color. but nonetheless - i'm still obsessed! I actually thought honey was a bit too brown for me - so this one is PERFECT!

Overall - best treatment color because it iss such a beautiful every day color! I am definitely keeping this in my bag and wearing it everyday for a my lips are AMAZING colored ;)
